Listeria monocytogenes: Threats to the Food Industry and Public Health is an academic reference book devoted to the microbiological, epidemiological, environmental and industrial significance of L. monocytogenes. The book first explains why listeriosis, although relatively rare, represents a major public-health concern because of severe invasive disease, high hospitalization and mortality rates, and the particular vulnerability of pregnant women, newborns, older adults and immunocompromised people.
