Common traditional techniques for the evaluation of animal semen in the context of reproductive physiopathology (Volume 1)

This volume reviews male reproductive physiology and presents traditional, clinic-ready techniques for evaluating animal semen in the context of reproductive pathophysiology. It explains testicular anatomy, spermatogenesis and staging, endocrine regulation (GnRH–LH/FSH–testosterone), epididymal maturation, and accessory gland contributions, emphasizing species differences that affect interpretation. It details practical laboratory procedures and quality-control principles for semen handling and assessment (motility, viability staining, morphology, concentration, and related metrics), and discusses thermoregulation and blood–testis barrier disruption to guide diagnostic timing, retesting intervals, and fertility prognosis.
