Résumé

This book explores the biology, taxonomy, antimicrobial resistance, and genomic surveillance of one of the most clinically important bacterial orders. The book traces the transition from classical Enterobacteriaceae to modern genome-based classification, reviews major genera and laboratory identification methods, and explains how antimicrobial pressure drives resistance through mutation, horizontal gene transfer, mobile genetic elements, beta-lactamases, and fluoroquinolone resistance. It also examines multidrug-resistant and high-risk lineages, including Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, and shows how whole-genome sequencing strengthens molecular epidemiology, outbreak investigation, and One Health surveillance.
