Résumé

This book offers a structured introduction to lead-acid batteries, lead-based materials, and the fundamental principles of semiconductor electrochemistry. It begins with the history, operating mechanism, components, performance characteristics, advantages, and limitations of lead-acid batteries. It then examines lead and its principal compounds and alloys, with particular attention to their physical, chemical, structural, and electrochemical properties and their role in battery technology. The final part introduces the theoretical foundations of semiconductors, including energy-band structures, the Fermi–Dirac distribution, intrinsic and doped materials, conductivity, optical transitions, and semiconductor–electrolyte interfaces. By connecting battery engineering, materials science, and electrochemistry, this book provides students, researchers, and engineers with a clear reference for understanding lead-based energy-storage systems and the principles governing semiconductor electrochemical processes.
