الملخص
This scientific book offers a structured introduction to research methods and theoretical approaches in International Relations. It begins by defining IR and related concepts—international system, foreign policy and international politics—and explains why methodology and theory are essential for analysing complex political phenomena. It then examines deductive and inductive reasoning, the concept and elements of theory, and the relationship between theory and methodology. The book progresses through major analytical approaches: the historical method, including source collection, criticism and interpretation; the comparative approach, with its conditions, objectives and obstacles; and realism, through its classical foundations, the logic of power, national interest, war, peace and balance of power. Later chapters address behavioralism, post-behavioralism, structuralism and the systemic approach, showing how actors’ conduct is shaped by internal contexts and by the structure of the international system, including bipolarity, unipolarity and transition. The decision-making approach is treated through rational actor, organizational process and game theory models, including zero-sum games, Chicken Game and Prisoner’s Dilemma. The final axis introduces futures studies, strategic foresight, scenario building and the Delphi technique. Written in a pedagogical academic style, the book is useful for students and researchers seeking methodological tools for analysing international phenomena.
