Abstract
Green Materials for Water Decontamination examines sustainable approaches for removing trace metals and metalloids from contaminated water, with adsorption as the central treatment framework. The book connects water-quality challenges and contaminant chemistry with solid-liquid interfacial mechanisms, equilibrium and kinetic models, and responsible interpretation of adsorption data. It then reviews bio-derived, carbonaceous, inorganic, and hybrid sorbent materials, emphasizing surface chemistry, material form, characterization, and practical handling. Finally, it addresses selectivity in real waters, regeneration and reuse, process scale-up, sustainability, techno-economic considerations, safety, and resource recovery, linking material performance to circular water-treatment systems and future research directions.
