Key Stages
From Manuscript to Book
At SARAHMED Éditions, every manuscript follows a structured process designed to support the scientific, educational, literary, linguistic, bibliographic and production quality of the book. The assessment process is adapted to the relevant catalogue and intended readership.
Manuscript Submission
The author submits the complete manuscript, title, summary, contact details, a short biography and, where applicable, their affiliation. A declaration of originality and information about any use of artificial intelligence tools may also be requested.
Preliminary Editorial Assessment and Routing
The publishing house reviews the manuscript’s fit with its editorial scope, overall coherence and level of readiness. The manuscript is then routed to the academic catalogue or the literature, ideas & culture catalogue, returned for additional information, or declined.
Scientific, Educational or Literary Assessment
An academic or educational book may be referred to one or more specialists. A literary work undergoes an editorial reading focused on the quality of the writing, its coherence, originality and fit with the catalogue. The type of assessment actually carried out is documented.
Author Revision
When revisions are requested, the author revises the manuscript and submits a corrected version. For an academic book, a response to scientific comments may also be requested.
Language and Editorial Editing
The text is reviewed and edited to improve spelling, grammar, punctuation, heading consistency, the presentation of tables and figures and, where applicable, the consistency of bibliographic references.
Typesetting
Once the content has been approved, the book is professionally typeset to suit its format, language, discipline or literary genre and the editorial standards of SARAHMED Éditions.
ISBN and Metadata Preparation
SARAHMED Éditions handles the ISBN procedures and prepares the information required for identification and dissemination: title, subtitle, authors, date, language, summary, keywords or genre, page count, price, access conditions and other relevant metadata.
Cover Design
The cover is designed with consideration for the title, catalogue, target readership, the publishing house’s visual identity and the required information. A proposal is submitted to the author for approval.
Final Proof and Approval
A final proof is sent to the author. The author checks the content, typesetting, cover and bibliographic information, then confirms in writing their approval for publication.
Publication, Legal Deposit and DOI Where Applicable
Once the final proof has been approved, the book is published and legal deposit formalities are completed in accordance with the applicable procedures. A permanent page is created in the relevant catalogue. For certain academic books, metadata are registered with Crossref and a DOI is added. A DOI is not automatically assigned to every academic book.
Printing and Additional Distribution
Depending on the agreed arrangements, an initial print run may be produced. Additional copies, digital distribution, Open Access availability or other distribution arrangements may subsequently be organised.
