Abstract

This book examines insect responses to climate change from molecular, physiological, and ecological perspectives. It introduces the foundations and methods of molecular entomology, then considers the effects of temperature variability, drought, and altered seasonality on insect biology and populations. Subsequent chapters address stress-response pathways, gene regulation, phenotypic plasticity, epigenetic processes, and evolutionary adaptation. Applications include molecular biodiversity monitoring, ecological prediction, agricultural and medical entomology, and conservation. The final chapter examines insect-associated microorganisms, climate-sensitive symbioses, and the potential and limitations of microbiome-based interventions. Throughout, the book distinguishes molecular associations, functional evidence, and ecological inference.
